Even though there was no official event, Apple did introduce a number of new products earlier today, including a new iPad model. Simply called iPad, the tablet will be available to order starting later this week on Friday, March 24. Lets take a look how Apple’s iPad compares to other tablets with a 9.7-inch screen.

The iPad

The iPad

Basically an upgraded version of the iPad Air 2, the tablet simply know as iPad offers two major draws – a lower price and faster A9 processor. Buyers can snag a 32GB version for $329 and a 128GB edition for $429. The Wi-Fi + Cellular version costs $459 and $559, respectively, for the 32GB and 128GB edition.

If price is your top consideration when looking to purchase a tablet, than the iPad should definitely be up your alley.

With the low starting price, its a great value and should get users with older iPads to actually consider an upgrade thanks to its modern features. It’s basically the tablet version of the iPhone SE.

It also looks to be Apple’s answer to the growing threat from Google’s Chromebook in the education market.

9.7-inch iPad Pro

Living up to its name, the 9.7-inch iPad Pro should be perfect for anyone looking to do more than just casual Web surfing and Netflix binging. Along with full support for the Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard, the tablet has a few other advantages including the True Tone display, camera flash, and ability to capture 4K video. A base 32GB Wi-Fi version starts at $599.

But you’ll have to determine if those additional features are worth the extra cost of almost $300, not including the keyboard or stylus. Another plus in the iPad Pro’s favor is also the 256GB storage tier.

The iPad Air 2, if you can find it, could be a great choice for anyone needing a inexpensive tablet – especially the undersized 16GB. Even though it offers the slower A8X processor and a bit dimmer screen, keep on the look out for some great deals in the days to come.
