Cord Cutters Have Another Great Choice with PlayStation Vue on the Apple TV
While previously available for the iPhone and iPad, Sony’s PlayStation Vue streaming TV service landed for the fourth-generation Apple TV last week. Like Sling TV, PlayStation Vue offers a number of live TV channels on the streaming device. Here’s a rundown of what to expect.
Welcome home
After starting up the app, the handy home screen features what your currently watching, recently watched shows, live TV, your saved shows, and featured content. As a nice touch, each family member can create their own profile for a more personalized viewing experience.
A traditional guide
For those viewers who enjoy a more traditional TV browsing experience, there is a detailed guide that shows upcoming and previous shows from all of your available channels. It's easy to navigate using the touchpad on the Siri Remote.
A cloud DVR
Instead of a traditional DVR, PlayStation Vue takes a different approach. You can save any program to your My Shows section. Once added, it will save any episodes of the program for 28 days.

Along with the Apple TV, you can access PlayStation Vue on an iPhone or iPad with the free, universal app. It’s also available on a Mac or PC.
Monthly subscriptions start at $29.99 or $39.99 in cities with major live local broadcast stations – New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, San Francisco, and Miami.

I’ve been using the streaming service for the past few days and have come away extremely impressed. The Apple TV app is well designed and easy to navigate. Add in the cloud DVR feature, and its a true replacement for the cable company – especially if local channels are available in your area.
