Developer Officially Confirms Sequel to Boxing Sim Punch Club
If you couldn’t get enough of Punch Club’s original outing, here’s some more boxing sim goodness.
Lazy Bear Games and tinyBuild Games have officially announced Punch Club 2: Fast Forward, a sequel to this past January’s Punch Club.
In a 26 minute long “documentary,” publisher tinyBuild Games puts the spotlight on developer Lazy Bear Games‘ three-man team as they discuss their path to mobile gaming greatness.
Punch Club is a boxing sim in the vein of games like Game Dev Story. You take a fighter, train him up to win various prize fights, take the money you earn there and put it back into training and gear and stats. Even non-boxing fans can enjoy the game on a purely mechanical level.
Details on the sequel are thin, with only the retro sci-fi splash page in the documentary and a suggestion that Fast Forward started as DLC for the original Punch Club, but became a large enough project to warrant a full release.
The team also suggests that they’ve paid attention to feedback from the original title’s fans, and hope to add some new gaming mechanics to the sequel, which is all to the good.
If you’re interested, you can check out the documentary; it’s a neat peek into how a successful development team got its start. Talk about the new game starts at around the 25 minute mark.
