Nintendo’s Fire Emblem Heroes Will Land on the App Store Feb. 2
After making a big splash with Super Mario Run, Nintendo is turning to a lesser-known franchise for its next mobile game. The company recently announced that Fire Emblem Heroes will land on the App Store and Android devices in two weeks on Thursday, Feb. 2.
Tactical battles
The battle grid is made specifically for a smartphone screen.
Set in the Fire Emblem universe, the game will feature a new storyline that sees two different kingdoms square off. Players can summon heroes from different Fire Emblems worlds.
The turn-based battle game is made specifically for a smartphone screen with each map contained in an 8×6 grid. Gamers will touch-and-drag across the grid to attack.
Nintendo will take a familiar pricing strategy with the game. Fire Emblem Heroes will be free to download and available for both the iPhone and iPad, but there will be a number of in-app purchases.
Taking on mobile gaming
Fire Emblem Heroes will be the third mobile game from Nintendo. Along with Super Mario Run’s arrival in December, the social-focused Miitomo hit the App Store in early 2016.
While originally promising four mobile games before March 2017, Nintendo now said that number will be four. The fourth game is widely expected to be set in the world of Animal Crossing.
