IKEA Once Again Suffers Issues With Adding HomeKit Support to Tradfri Lighting
For the second time in less than two months, IKEA has backtracked on bringing Apple HomeKit support to its inexpensive Tradfri lighting system and accessories.
Along with smart lighting, the line includes other accessories like a wireless motion detector.
Support for both HomeKit and Amazon’s Alexa smart assistant was rolled out to users earlier this week. But in a blog post, via SmartDroid, the hugely popular Swedish furniture company discovered some technical difficulties.
IKEA is attempting to resolve those issues quickly.
The company originally announced HomeKit support for the products in August and then quickly revamped those claims.
If IKEA is able to take care of the issues, the Tradfri line is a great option for anyone looking to add inexpensive HomeKit lighting.
A starter kit that offers a hub, two white bulbs, and a remote is $79.99. A number of add-on bulbs are less than $20. There are also a number of other accessories like dimmer kits and more.
