There's a lot to look forward to when it comes to Dandara, a recently announced iOS game that puts players in charge of a slingshotting heroine in a pixellated, retro world.

Although little concerning the forthcoming title has been announced, we do have a trailer for Dandara, along with a few crumbs of information from developer Long Hat House. The game, as TouchArcade explains, indeed seems to be “a Metroidvania style action-platformer,” and it includes lovely pixellated graphics, what appears to be a fun, retro soundtrack, and an interesting style of gameplay.

You see, you'll be slingshotting your heroine around using the familiar pull-back-and-let-go gesture popularized by games like Angry Birds.

If this doesn't quite make sense, check out the YouTube announcement trailer for Dandara above, which shows how this mode of gameplay works.

Magenta Arcade is Long House Hat's other iOS creation (it can be yours for just $1.99), and this, too, deployed pixellated graphics really well. Concerning a potential release date, TouchArcade adds that Dandara is set to swing onto the App Store at some point in the fourth quarter of this year. So we'll indeed keep you posted on this front.
