Almost nine months after iOS 9 officially arrived to the public, Netflix has updated its app to work with the Picture in Picture feature on compatible iPads.

Your iPad will need to have iOS 9.3.2 installed for Picture in Picture support.

That’s by far the biggest improvement in version 8.7.0 of the app. You’ll need to be running iOS 9.3.2 to use the feature.

When watching a show on the popular streaming service, just hit the home button and a small window will collapse and appear on the home screen. The window can be moved around to all four corners of the screen. It can also be closed or expanded back to the fullscreen.

Just to note, if you’ve been patiently waiting for this feature in the Netflix app, don’t upgrade to iOS 10. In the first developer beta, which landed yesterday, we’ve confirmed that the Picture in Picture doesn’t currently seem to be working.

Netflix is a universal app for the iPhone/iPod touch, all iPad models, and the Apple TV. It can be downloaded now for free.

You can subscribe starting at $9.99 per month.
