Shazam Now Lets You Identify and Share Songs Right Within iMessage
Shazam has just updated its official iOS app to add support for its very own iMessage extension. As a result, users of the app on devices running iOS 10 can now identify songs and share them instantly right within iMessage — all without having to open the Shazam app.
Enabling Shazam’s iMessage app
To be able to Shazam songs and share them in iMessage, be sure to download the latest version of Shazam for iOS and then enable Shazam’s iMessage app.
How to enable Shazam’s iMessage app
In a conversation screen in the Messages app, tap the right-pointing icon beside the message field on top of the keyboard.
Tap the App Store icon to open the app drawer.
Tap the app grid icon at the bottom left corner of the keyboard.
Tap the Store button (with the plus icon).
Tap the Manage tab.
Toggle the switch for Shazam to turn it on.
Tap Done.
Using Shazam’s iMessage app
With Shazam’s iMessage app duly enabled, it’s quick and easy to identify and share songs with the people you chat with on iMessage.
How to use Shazam’s iMessage app
In a conversation screen in the Messages app, tap the right-pointing icon beside the message field on top of the keyboard.
Tap the App Store icon to open the app drawer.
Swipe to access Shazam’s iMessage app.
Touch the Shazam button to initiate the identification of the currently playing song.
Once the identification process is complete, a card for the song, including the album artwork and the names of the song and the artist, is automatically entered in the message field.
Tap the send button to share the card for the Shazammed song.
Once sent, the card may be tapped by the recipient to view the card in full screen, with options to buy the song on iTunes, play the song on Apple Music, and preview and learn more about the song in the Shazam app.
