The official tie-in mobile game of the “Harry Potter” prequel film “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” which premieres in theaters today, is out now on iOS. Called Fantastic Beasts: Cases from the Wizarding World, the game is essentially a hidden-object game set in the wizarding world of Harry Potter. Specifically, it has players finding magical creatures and solving cases to keep them from harm.
In Fantastic Beasts: Cases from the Wizarding World, you’re a new recruit for the Ministry of Magic’s Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. As such, you’re tasked to solve mysteries concerning magical creatures by visiting different locations in the wizarding world of Harry Potter, including the Leaky Cauldron, Diagon Alley, and Hogsmeade. Find hidden objects, analyze pieces of evidence, brew potions, and cast spells to accomplish your ultimate mission: to protect the magical creatures involved in the cases.
Solve magical mysteries involving magical mysteries by looking for clues hidden in plain sight across familiar locations in the wizarding world of Harry Potter.
To crack the cases, you will need, first and foremost, a sharp eye for hidden pieces of evidence. But you will also need a few other things, including a penchant for brewing potions.
Contrary to Snape's wishes, there will be foolish wand-waving and silly incantations. Cast the required spells to complete the scenes, crack the cases, and protect the fantastic beasts.
While it’s not the Pokémon Go-like creature collecting game that its source material’s premise apparently calls for, Fantastic Beasts: Cases from the Wizarding World makes for an excellent hidden-object game. Its setting, the wizarding world of Harry Potter, is a treasure trove of objects and creatures to explore, with potions to brew and spells to cast to boot. The background music throughout helps set the magical mood, too.
