The friendly RSS reader that is by no means lacking in features

Reeder 3

by Silvio Rizzi
FREE in the App Store

Reeder has been a longtime favorite on iOS and the Mac for subscribing to and reading RSS feeds. Just subscribe to a feed, and you'll be able to read articles, keep up with what you haven't seen yet, and easily share with friends.

Browse feeds from multiple accounts. After adding an account from a reading service such as Feedly, Feedbin, NewsBlur, Instapaper, Readability, or opting to subscribe locally from your iOS device, Reeder allows you to embrace the breeze of RSS. All of your feeds show up in one place, and can be browsed individually or in combination.

View full websites. Even though Reeder is an RSS reader, accessing the original webpage an article came from is as easy as a tap or a swipe from right to left. This is great when sites use truncated posts in their RSS feeds, forcing you to go to the actual website to view the full article. While the practice can be annoying, it's nice that you can easily view the link with just a swipe in Reeder.

Share what you're reading. From Facebook and Twitter to Evernote, Pinboard, and more, you can configure up to 16 services to share links from. Plus, you can also share webpages from the iOS share sheet where the number of options is virtually limitless.

What is it about?

With so many different blogs to subscribe to, it's nice to have a place where you can conveniently and effortlessly keep up with your interests. RSS readers are a good way to do this, allowing you to subscribe to virtually any blog, keep up with what you have and haven't read, and all with a clean interface. Plus, it's extra convenient when you can see a combined feed of all or multiple websites. On iOS, Reeder is a favorite for accomplishing this, whether by linking an RSS syncing service or subscribing to feeds locally on your device. Known for having an appealing personality, simple and elegant user interface, and no lack of features, it's no wonder that this app has stuck around after years of updates.

For those who...

  • Want to keep up with many blogs and websites at the same time
  • Also store articles in Instapaper and/or Readability

Not for those who...

  • Don't read more than a couple of blogs
  • Require a specific advanced feature that an alternative might better serve

Why we love it

For those who want (or need) to stay on top of their feeds for virtually any website, Reeder is a solid option on iOS for its friendly interface and abundance of syncing and sharing features.
