The AppAdvice iPhone App Of The Week: Jetpack Joyride, $.99 & Universal, Released September 1 Barry Steakfries Is At It Again! Jetpack Joyride by Halfbrick Studios brings back Barry Steakfries, everyone’s favorite hero, in another endless running adventure. You may remember Barry from Monster Dash, another game that we previously covered, and that awesome weapon – the Machine Gun Jetpack. Well, now you have Barry again, and this time the entire game focuses on him flying through a secret laboratory with his stolen Machine Gun Jetpack, scattering all of the evil scientists around him. Yes, this is another endless runner, like Monster Dash, except this is the best game of the genre I’ve ever played. It’s just that good. Minions, $.99, Released September 1 Turning The Tides, The Minions Are Trying To Overthrow Their Leader From the creators of Archetype comes a capricious first-person shooter that nearly everyone can enjoy. Appropriately titled, Minions is a game surrounding the story of loyal followers who decide to become the leaders. Even though Archetype is a successful title with over 1.5 million online players, Villain, the game developer, feels their latest FPS will grab the attention of a broader crowd by having a less complex, more comical, and only single player gameplay. While the concept is simple, it can be just as intensely fun, challenging, and addicting as other FPS titles, but in a less serious manner. Updated PayMeBack, $.99, Updated August 30 Keep Track Of Borrowed Money In A Beautiful Way With PayMeBack PayMeBack by Rick Waalders, Sjoerd Perfors is a beautifully designed app that will help you keep track of borrowed money. It always happens – money is borrowed. Whether people borrowed it from you, or you borrowed it from others, it’s just bound to happen. How do you keep track of it? Maybe write it down on paper, or make a note on your phone? These solutions may work, but it won’t be specially designed for the task at hand. This is where PayMeBack comes in. Pirate Subs!!!, $.99 & Universal, Updated August 30 The Pirate Subs Move Into New Waters, And It's Up To You To Stop Them Super Boise released Pirate Subs v2.0 today, and the update takes the good versus evil battle into new regions. Traveling beyond the Arctic Circle, the pirate submarines have now been seen in the Amazon River, tropical paradises, and Isle of Industry. These new areas contain more animals you must avoid harming and additional objects to eradicate. In these new environments, you'll demolish the pirate subs as usual by blasting them out of the water with one tap, then firing a missile using an above water swipe to fully annihilate them. However, using the Amazon River for example, avoid firing at the bears and whales from before, plus the toucans now souring through the sky. FiLMiC Pro, $2.99, Updated August 31 FiLMiC Pro Brings Professional Cinematography To The iPhone FiLMiC Pro by Cinegenix, LLC does for the iPhone’s camcorder what Camera+ does for the iPhone’s still-frame shutter. It puts the power in the user’s hands, opening up windows of possibility as well as the full creative potential of the device itself. The app comes with enough fine-tune settings to please even the most demanding of directors, and with such a fluid interface, there’s no reason to leave FiLMiC Pro behind during a shoot. FiLMiC Pro acts as a feature-rich HD video recorder for the iPhone. The app adds functionality to the stock iOS camcorder, including control over the exposure, focus, resolution, frame rate, and framing of each shot.
