Mark Zuckerberg Signs Up For Viddy, Otherwise Known As 'Instagram For Video'

April 30, 2012
Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg has joined Viddy, the video-sharing service often referred to as the "Instagram for video." This bit of startup news comes on the heels of the much-publicized $1 billion acquisition of Instagram, the extremely popular photo-sharing app, by none other than Zuckerberg's social networking giant of a company, Facebook. Understandably, the inclusion of Zuckerberg in Viddy's user base has sparked speculations that Viddy might be next on the Facebook head honcho's shopping list. Under the username Zuck, the well known Internet entrepreneur has posted a video titled "Baby Beast." The video, embedded below, shows Zuckerberg's pet puli dog named Beast being his usual playful self. As of this writing, 1544 Viddy users have liked the video and 192 have posted comments on it, the consensus of which states that Beast is "so cute!" If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. A recent occupant of the No. 1 spot in the App Store's top free iPhone apps chart, Viddy lets users share 15-second videos treated with effects similar to those available in Instagram. The video-sharing service has been enjoying a significant surge of users lately, thanks to the successful launch of its Timeline app on Facebook. Prior to that, though, it hit a small snag with Apple when it was pulled from the App Store because of some videos that were deemed "too spicy." It was then restored after a few days, to the delight of its policy-abiding users. Will Viddy's next newsworthy involvement be its acquisition by Zuckerberg's company?
