New iPods Will Reportedly Be Introduced Along With The Next-Generation iPhone

September 4, 2012
Even though the new iPad mini will apparently wait until October to be unveiled, 9to5Mac is reporting that new iPods will be introduced along with the next-generation iPhone on Sept. 12. The report is a little hazy, but the site said it expects two, and possibly even three, new or revamped iPod lines to be introduced at the event in San Francisco:
All these new lines will come in multiple colors, one of the lines will come in two size capacities, and the other two lines will come in a single storage capacity. With the current iPod nanos and iPod shuffles both available in multiple colors (and with the nano currently available in two capacities and the shuffle in one), we think it is likely that new iPod nanos and iPod shuffles are launching next week.
So while the iPod nano and iPod shuffle are obvious candidates for a revamp, there is no word whether the other familiar part of the iPod line – the iPod touch - will launch at the event. That leaves room for possibly a never-before-seen iPod. And the site speculates it could be a possible new iPod nano that we’ve previously seen before in renderings. The device may contain Wi-Fi connectivity, have a rectangular touch screen, and support iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match. I’m a little skeptical that Apple would keep two designs of the iPod nano around, but the company could easily treat the device like the MacBook Pro line with an old and new version. Source: 9to5Mac
