If you're anything like us here on AppAdvice, then you must also be a big fan of word games. We're mad about Words With Friends, Scrabble, and, of course, the recently released Letterpress. And pretty soon, we might just be adding another title to our list of favorite iOS word games. And that title is Word Derby.
Developed by Trivia Friends creator Mention Mobile and published by Chillingo, Word Derby is an upcoming game that mixes word making with horse racing.
An asynchronous multiplayer game, Word Derby has you going head-to-head and perhaps neck-and-neck with up to three other players.
You and your fellow jockeys take turns in forming words out of the same set of letters.

As you form words, you receive points and your horse advances along a race course inspired by classic horse derby games from carnival midways. Of course, whoever reaches the finish line first wins the game.
Typical of social games these days, Word Derby also includes various power-ups and upgrades.
Compatible with both iPhone and iPad, Word Derby is G-A-L-L-O-P-I-N-G toward the App Store this week. So, get ready to place your bets and come up with your best words to win the much-coveted Word Derby trophy.
