Enhanced With TV Clips And Film Trailers, NextGuide Is The Next Big Thing
December 22, 2012
NextGuide — the "hyper-personalized" entertainment guide for Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Hulu Plus, iTunes, and live TV — has just received another significant update.
A couple of months ago, NextGuide got an update that delivered new content, improved user experience, and tons of tweaks. Then, last month, it got an update that included bookmarking, live social view, and — again — tons of tweaks.
This month, NextGuide has picked up an update that introduces NextGuide Clips, movie previews, enhanced search, speedy setup, and — again — tons of tweaks.
Undoubtedly the biggest addition to the app, NextGuide Clips lets you stream tens of thousands of TV clips from Hulu.
If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here.
Available for free and even without a Hulu subscription, these include but are definitely not limited to clips from: "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," "MasterChef," "The Colbert Report," "Family Guy," "The Simpsons," "The X Factor," and "Saturday Night Live." In fact, that last show already has its dedicated button, labeled "SNL," in the customizable category bar.
The updated NextGuide also features a wide selection of movie trailers, whether for upcoming titles or already released ones.
Also, it boasts an enhanced search function that promises to find you a match when you "type for anything, ANYTHING." I can vouch for this: I typed "pudding" and it returned a number of results, mostly for cooking shows.
The new version of NextGuide also promises speedy setup for existing and new users alike. Oh, and it has tons of tweaks, of course, including "many other wonderful improvements, enhancements, and bug fixes."
Compatible with iPad running iOS 5.0 or later, the new and "hyper-improved" version NextGuide is available now in the App Store for free.
