Now Playing: Improved Spotify, Rdio And YouTube Integration In SoundTracking
February 28, 2013
SoundTracking, the Shazam-meets-Instagram social networking app whose user base once included Apple marketing head Phil Schiller, has recently received a "smart" update.
This new update is smart, so to speak, in that it introduces a new Smart Play button.
Located at the top right corner of every feed entry, the Smart Play button lets you play music videos and full-track audio for any music moment.
This is possible thanks to the app's improved integration with Spotify, Rdio, and YouTube. In addition to the iTunes purchase option, the Smart Play button gives you options to watch YouTube music videos and play full-track audio via Spotify or Rdio.
Watching YouTube music videos is done right within the app. But playing full-track audio is done externally using the Spotify or Rdio app for iOS. Therefore, you must first have the Spotify or Rdio installed on your device before SoundTracking can automatically open either app.
The new SoundTracking update also lets you browse your iTunes music library right within the app. In addition, you can now share music moments using any song in your library.
Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 4.3 or later, the new version of SoundTracking is available now in the App Store for free.
