Uber Update Ushers In Fare Splitting Option

July 15, 2013
The official iOS app for popular ride service Uber has just been updated with a very handy feature. Version 2.8.6 of the app adds a fare splitting option to share the bill with other passengers. After requesting a ride, users can access the Fare Split option by choosing the arrow icon. Friends can be invited from a contact list, or mobile numbers can be entered manually at any point during the trip. Once the other party confirms that they want to share the total, the app will split the total evenly between everyone on the ride. The Uber service is available in 35 cities across 14 countries. I’ve used Uber a few times while on various business trips, and can highly recommend the service. Uber is designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and can be downloaded now in the App Store for free.
