Another App Bites The Dust: Catch Notes To Be Shut For Good On Aug. 30

August 3, 2013
Catch Notes is set to be folded by the end of this month. As noted by MacRumors, the cross-platform note-taking app is scheduled to be discontinued on Aug. 30. Its imminent termination was announced by the Catch team on both the homepage and the help center of its official website:
Catch has made the difficult decision to take the company in a different direction. As such, we will be terminating service next month. We value our users and have greatly enjoyed providing Catch to millions of people over the last several years, but it is time for us to move on.
If you're a Catch Notes user, you're advised to download your data before Aug. 30 so that you can import your content to other note-taking apps, including Evernote and Simplenote. To do so, just follow the exporting and importing directions provided by the Catch team here and here. The universal Catch Notes iOS app remains available to download in the App Store for free. But most of its recent App Store reviews mention its being prone to crashing following its update last July 31, which supposedly contained "bugfixes." As mentioned, Catch Notes will be no more after Aug. 30. I guess an update to AppAdvice's iPad Note-Taking AppGuide, in which Catch Notes is listed as an "essential app," is in order.
