EA appears to have soft-launched Madden NFL 25, a new iOS game in the Madden football series, in the Canadian App Store.
The new application, which comes following Madden Social's removal some time ago, is a free-to-play title that offers a number of interesting social features. TouchArcade explains the curious situation:
It definitely looks like this iteration of Madden on mobile is more of a full-fledged game than the Social versions, but it still seems like it's got some weird free-to-play-isms happening. Like, you'll form your team by picking players from packs of cards or you can pick some up in the "Auction House," which will be interesting to see how that whole thing works. In addition, iDevice owners can enjoy playing through a number of "Solo Challenges" and "Head-2-Head Challenges," and the game - unlike NFL Pro Football - continues to offer users "authentic NFL action" in the form of real teams from the league. As mentioned, Madden NFL 25 can be downloaded in the Canadian App Store free of charge, and is optimized for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. We'll keep you updated with further information on the application as we receive it.
