Barnes & Noble Finally Fixes Nook App's Compatibility Issues On iOS 7
September 27, 2013
Nook for iOS has finally been updated to be fully compatible with iOS 7.
Last week, on the eve of the new operating system's launch, Barnes & Noble warned users of a couple of issues that they might encounter while using its official Nook app on iOS 7.
According to the email sent by Barnes & Noble to notify users of the app, one of the issues might cause the app to crash or render pages incorrectly when the screen is rotated while reading. The other issue might also cause the app to crash or cause library access problems upon login.
But now, a week later, Barnes & Noble has ironed out the Nook app's kinks on iOS 7. The popular book retailer has just released a new update to the app that, while it doesn't bring a new "designed for iOS 7" look and feel, effectively resolves the aforementioned iOS 7 compatibility issues.
In addition to the requisite iOS 7 compatibility fixes, the following improvements are included in the latest update to Nook for iOS:
The new version of Nook is available now in the App Store for free. It's compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 5.0 or later, as opposed to the previous version, which requires iOS 4.3 or later. Nook for iOS received its last major update back in March. That update added support for Nook Comics with ZoomView, animated page turns for books, enlargement of book illustrations, and other improvements. Note that Nook for iOS is an app designed for reading e-books from the Nook Book Store. As such, it's distinguished from Nook Video for iOS, which was released by Barnes & Noble last month. Nook Video lets users watch movies and TV shows from Barnes & Noble’s Nook Video service right on an iOS device. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
