Could This Be Apple's iPhone 5C In The Wild?

Apple's anticipated Sept. 10 iPhone event isn't far off, and as such a number of images claiming to show the company's next-generation handsets have surfaced online. The latest, which appeared on Chinese language websites and reached us thanks to 9to5Mac, appear to show Apple's low-cost iPhone 5C handset inside its accompanying packaging.
Perhaps what is most interesting is that the images indicate that, as in the past, Apple could match up the iPhone 5C's wallpaper with its external appearance. As a reminder, the low-cost smartphone is expected to be available in a number of different colors, and as with Apple's previous iPod nano devices, it would seem that wallpapers may be matched against the iPhone 5C's polycarbonate outer shell (see above).
In addition, however, two further images, which surfaced on the Chinese micro-blogging website Weibo, show off "iPhone 5C" packaging. One of the images also exhibits the inside of the handset's packaging, and features the micro-SIM card ejector tool Apple includes with its iPhones.
Of course, it's impossible to verify these images: as 9to5Mac observes, the posters have uncertain track records, and as such we must view the above images with a realistic degree of skepticism. Though the handsets pictured do corroborate with practically all of the iPhone 5C rumors we've heard so far, we'll know nothing for certain until Apple officially announces the low-cost smartphone on stage later this month.
