Deal Of The Day: Amazon Local Goes Universal With iPad Support And New Design

September 14, 2013
Amazon Local has just gone universal with its 2.0 update. Amazon Local is the eponymous e-commerce company's official deals-of-the-day app for iOS. It was released in September last year on iOS, but only as an app optimized for iPhone and iPod touch. Now, though, a year after its launch, Amazon Local has finally received its universal update. As a result, the app, which has been pushed to version 2.0, is now natively compatible with iPad as well as with iPhone and iPod touch. "We've redesigned Amazon Local to work beautifully on iPad in portrait and landscape," says Amazon in the release notes for the new update. "The iPad app can filter deals by category, sort deals by price or proximity and view all deals on a map." The new Amazon Local app for iPad also features a new slide-out navigation sidebar and, on iOS 6.0 or later, support for swiping on a deal's details view to quickly navigate to the next or previous deal. Both of these navigation enhancements have also been incorporated into Amazon Local for iPhone and iPod touch, which now sports an iOS 7-ready design. Also including various fixes and miscellaneous improvements, Amazon Local 2.0 is available now in the App Store for free. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 5.0 or later. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
