PayPal has just announced some major improvements in its updated iPhone app that take the mobile payment service to the next level.
The update is anchored by the new Shop tab that can be used to find nearby stores or restaurants that accept PayPal payments. Users can then check-in from the app and select how they want to pay.
Here’s a new video tour of the app. Click here if you can’t see the video.
The coolest new addition easily looks to be the Order Ahead feature. PayPal explains a little more about it in a blog post:
The minutes you spend standing in line can now be spent on chatting with your family or getting back to work on time. By checking in on the PayPal app, you can order ahead (from the full menu!) and bypass the line at local restaurants and cafes. Starting today, you can order ahead at more than a thousand Eat24 locations, with more restaurants and cafes coming soon. After checking in at participating restaurants, users can also pay their bill and give a tip directly from the app. Finally, buyers can apply to finance their purchases from inside the app by choosing the Bill Me Later option. Select retailers will also be offering flexible financing and other promotional offers. PayPal is designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and can be downloaded now in the App Store for free. The new version has yet to appear, but it should be arriving momentarily.
