If you want to snag an iPhone 5s on launch day, I’ve got some friendly advice – get in line now.
According to BGR, Apple uncharacteristically declined to allow preorders for the high-end handset because it can’t meet initial demand:
We don’t the cause of the iPhone 5s shortages, but have been told that there will not be any issue with purchasing a 5c on launch day. However, the 5s supply is “severely constrained” according to our source, and that is the reason Apple and its partners around the world could not do preorders. Apple had to make sure that there were as many devices as possible to sell in stores and for front of house units on launch day.The report also mentioned that iOS 7.0.1 and iOS 7.1 are currently being tested by Apple. After the minor iOS 7.0.1 release, iOS 7.1 will reportedly be announced during the company's next special event. Possibly happening on Tuesday, Oct. 15, Apple is expected to unveil a new iPad, iPad mini, and possibly even revamped Apple TV hardware. Officially announced during a special media event last week, the iPhone 5s is highlighted by its Touch ID biometric fingerprint sensor and 64-bit A7 chip. Along with Apple Stores, many U.S. carriers and retailers will open at 8 a.m. on Friday to sell both the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c. Sprint seems to be a nice place to go if you’re a new customer. The carrier is offering both new iPhones for $100 off retail price – making a 16GB iPhone 5c free and the 16GB iPhone 5s $99.99. News like this makes me glad I’m keeping my iPhone 5. It sounds like it could be a long wait on launch day, and after, for buyers looking to snag the flagship device.
