Can You Access Apple's iCloud Keychain In Your Country?

October 26, 2013
Apple's iCloud-powered iCloud Keychain is a useful feature, allowing iDevice and Mac users to securely save a catalog of their countless passwords and pass-codes. However, users should note that the feature is only available in a limited (albeit large) number of international territories. Is your country supported? Let's find out. Fortunately for our international readers, a support document carefully outlines "iCloud Keychain availability by country." Countries wherein the feature is supported, then, include:
Albania, Armenia, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Bahrain, Barbados, Belgium, Bolivia, Botswana, Brazil, British Virgin Islands, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Canada, Cayman Islands, Central African Republic, Chile, China, Columbia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Grenada, Guam, Guatemala, Guinea, Honduras, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Japan, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Ivory Coast, Jamaica, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macau, Macedonia, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mali, Malta, Martinique, Mauritius, Mexico, Moldova, Montserrat, Morocco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Niger, Norway, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Reunion Island, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Taiwan, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Turkey, Turks and Caicos, Islands, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, Venezuela, and Vietnam.
If your country of residence isn't listed, iCloud Keychain unfortunately isn't available at this time. Though Apple does note online that "this list will be updated as more countries become available," indicating that it's working on expanding the availability of iCloud Keychain in the coming months. As a reminder, iCloud Keychain is available on iOS 7-powered iDevices and Mac computers running OS X Mavericks. The feature disappeared from the Gold Master prerelease edition of iOS 7, but was added once the software reached the general public. Though some had proposed that iCloud Keychain posed a threat to AgileBits' popular 1Password for Mac and iOS, updates for the software have expanded its functionality and secured its place on many Macs and iDevices. It's published every week on Tuesday, at 10 a.m. GMT, and hopes to bring relevant news to our many loyal international readers.
