The spaceship-like Campus 2 isn't the only Apple campus presently being constructed. In fact, the Cupertino, Calif. based company has been building up its "Americas Operations Center" in Austin, Texas for some time, and new images taken of the forthcoming campus have recently appeared online.
As a reminder, the complex is being built in two stages: The first sees some 200,000 square feet of office space added to the Austin campus, while the second - set to commence in 2015 - will add a further 800,000 square feet of operating space. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2021, at a total cost of $304 million.
AppleInsider now shares the above and below images of the Operations Center. The website explains:
AppleInsider reader Benjamin sent in several new photos showing that considerable progress has been made on the Austin campus project. Since the last update, the facility has noticeably filled out, with a couple of buildings now sporting mostly complete facades. The project is still underway, though, as can be seen from the construction equipment present in some shots. Benjamin notes that the pond at the new campus is completely full and that the fountain on the site is now operational. The walls and fences around the front portion of the campus are complete, as are most of the sidewalks.Apple's refreshed Austin campus will offer 3,600 new jobs in the local region, and AppleInsider explains that the bottom 10 percent of workers at the facility will reportedly receive an average yearly salary of $35,000. Below, we've included more images of the in-progress Austin campus.
