Hello Games To Bring Endless Joe Danger Infinity To The App Store

December 20, 2013

It’s been almost a year since Joe Danger raced into the App Store, and now Hello Games has confirmed that a sequel is in the works. Called Joe Danger Infinity, the forthcoming app will be an endless game in which Joe is able to explore a “real world” environment, à la Micro Machines.

The news hit the Web in a post added to TouchArcade’s forum, in which the folks at Hello Games confirm that Joe Danger Infinity is expected to reach the App Store next month. The developer explains, “we didn’t actually plan on making a whole new game. Infinity was meant to be an update to JDT. But it got out of control.”

Hello Games continues:

It felt that Joe Danger Touch was something that had already existed on console, and he wanted us to do something totally new, just for iOS – where so so many people were enjoying it.

So we went back and tried making a Joe Danger that’s completely fresh and new.

The main thing about Infinity is that it’s huge. It’s double the size of JDT and the biggest Joe Danger game we’ve made and we’re going to be adding more and more to it.

Plus, besides providing iDevice gamers with a huge environment to explore, Hello Games is also including a new story mode with Joe Danger Infinity: “There’s this magic gumball machine (called King Gumball) and all the toys in his gumballs come alive. Just one of them is Joe Danger, so you don’t only play as him but a whole host of toys, pulling stunts and wheelies across kitchen tops and games rooms.”

More than 20 new vehicles - cars, airplanes, a tank, and even a runaway firework - feature in the forthcoming game, and there’s “a huge focus on scoring,” Hello Games adds, meaning Joe Danger Infinity is all the more competitive.

If you’re not familiar with the original app, Joe Danger got an “honorable mention” in our AppAdvice Game of the Week article for Jan. 18, 2013 (losing out on the top spot to Time Surfer), and the app subsequently received an impressive update adding 21 new levels and five additional characters.

Best of all, Joe Danger can be downloaded for just $0.99, and is optimized for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Check out the original app if you haven’t already, and we’ll let you know once the sequel reaches the App Store.
