Instapaper Read-Later App Goes Free For First Time As Apple's App Of The Week

Instapaper has just gone free for the first time since its launch in the App Store in July 2008. Normally priced at $3.99, the pioneering read-later app created by Marco Arment and acquired by Digg owner Betaworks last April is currently available for free as Apple's App of the Week. As noted by Apple in Instapaper's App Store page:

Each week, we select a great app and bring it to you, for free, as our App of the Week. (In-App Purchases sold separately.) With the expertly designed Instapaper, you can save hundreds of Web articles for easy offline reading, stripping away distracting online elements in the process. Tilt scrolling, dark mode, font resizing, and many other helpful features make diving into your perfectly organized collection of stories and videos a genuine pleasure.

So, if, for some reason, you haven't downloaded Instapaper in its five-year history, now is the perfect time to get it. Instapaper, which is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 6.0 or later, is available in the App Store for free from today, Dec. 12, through Dec. 19. What's more, every new user through the end of the year is eligible for a free two-month Instapaper subscription, which provides access to subscriber-only features including search and third-party API integrations. Instapaper was updated to version 5.0 last September with an iOS 7-style interface, sorting filters, and other enhancements. It was then updated with support for Background App Refresh last October and with significant iPad improvements last month.
