NYTimes For iPhone And iPad Updated To Offer Coverage Of 2014 Winter Olympics
January 31, 2014
The New York Times has just updated its official apps for iOS.
Most notably, the new versions of NYTimes for iPhone and NYTimes for iPad feature complete coverage of the 2014 Winter Olympics, which is scheduled to take place in Sochi, Russia, from Feb. 7 to 23. In line with this, you can sign up to receive Olympics news alerts from either app when the games begin.
The NYTimes app join Google Search, Yahoo Sports, and Fancred in the growing list of apps that offer coverage of the upcoming Sochi games.
The newly updated NYTimes apps also feature interactives and graphics more prominently on section fronts and within articles. Moreover, the new version of NYTimes for iPhone includes performance optimizations and bug fixes, and that of NYTimes for iPad includes suggestions for articles from the current section at the end of an article.
The new versions of NYTimes for iPhone and NYTimes for iPad are available now in the App Store for free. Both apps are compatible with supported devices running iOS 7.0 or later.
As noted by The Next Web, The New York Times has just lessened the number of free articles in its mobile apps from three per day to just 10 per month, thereby keeping them in line with the free article limitation on the NYTimes.com homepage and mobile website.
