Popular Jailbreak Dev Updates Fans On Springtomize 3 For iOS 7

January 3, 2014

Filippo Bigarella, the developer behind a bunch of impressive jailbreak tweaks for iOS, has updated his fans on the status of Springtomize 3 for iOS 7. In a recent blog post, he explains that the updated jailbreak tweak is “a complete rewrite,” and though half completed, a fair amount of work on Springtomize 3 remains.

Back in 2011, we called Springtomize 2 “the ultimate customization package” for our jailbroken iDevices. In our original article, we explained:

It’s possible with the tweak to customize your iPhone’s animations, dock, Lock screen, icons, folders and much, much more. It really is quite amazing how much Springtomize’s developer has managed to pack into one single jailbreak tweak – undoubtedly, if you enjoy customizing your jailbroken iPhone handset, this is the package you should download.

For iOS 7 and 64-bit iDevices, Bigarella has big changes planned for the jailbreak tweak: “it’s a complete rewrite, based on a completely new structure designed to solve many of the technical challenges that a big project like Springtomize brings to the game (and if you’ve ever developed an iOS tweak, you may be able to guess some of them),” the developer explained in a recent blog post.

He added:

From that 35–40%, I think I can safely say that, as of now, it’s at least half percent done: the “foundation” on which everything is based is nearly complete, many “hooks” have been written (which means that it already has a lot of features). What’s missing right now is expanding even more the number of available features and … Settings.

Yep, settings are a big missing point when it comes to Springtomize, and require a lot of work and testing: oh, not even counting that they need to be designed to be as user friendly as possible, because I don’t want people to get lost.

Beta testers have been selected for the jailbreak tweak, and though we’re not sure exactly when Springtomize 3 is expected to reach the Cydia Store, Bigarella promises that jailbreakers “won’t be disappointed.”

There’s also an update for CleverPin in the works, too, adding iOS 7 and ARM64 support. This should be submitted to the Cydia Store this weekend, Bigarella notes, and so we’re expecting to see the update reach our iDevices soon.

Recent jailbreak tweaks for iOS 7 include BatterySafe, Infiniboard, Infinidock, and Infinifolders, Virtual Home (a particular favorite of mine), Swipey, and Barrel. If you’re planning on jailbreaking your iOS 7-powered iDevice, take a look at our dedicated article (just be sure to download Cydia Substrate if you’re using a 64-bit iDevice).
