Rdio Update Ushers In Chromecast Support

March 31, 2014
The official iOS app for streaming music service Rdio has just been updated to add two new features. First up, version 2.5.8 now offers Chromecast support. Users of the $35 streaming device can cast songs, albums, stations, and playlists directly to their TV. Back in February, Google released an SDK for other developers to build Chromecast support into their apps. The update also features new album headers. Each header offers a dynamically chosen color to compliment the artwork of each album. Finally, there are a number of UI improvements and minor bug fixes in the new version. A universal app designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini, Rdio can be downloaded now in the App Store for free. A monthly subscription to the service costs $9.99 per month and is available with an in-app purchase. Before the most recent update, version 2.5.7 arrived in early February. That version focused on playlist editing and album reviews.
