Square Enix Kicks Off A Surprise Limited-Time App Store Sale
Square Enix has launched an impressive sale on the App Store, discounting three of its most popular titles – Deus Ex: The Fall, Tomb Raider I, and Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light (including Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light HD) – in celebration of World Book Day. You can pick up each title for just $0.99 until Monday, March 10, according to the developer-publisher.
If you're puzzling over that first paragraph, fret not – because you read it right. Square Enix is launching the sale in response to World Book Day (which in Britain, at least, was held yesterday), but not in the way you'd think. Rather than celebrating the event as Oceanhouse Media did with Read Across America day, Square Enix is asking: “Who needs books when you have games?”
In a press release, the developer-publisher said:
Square Enix don't have books to sell, oh no, they have 3 amazing games on sale via the AppStore and Google Play. You can't buy any decent book for under a fiver but you can buy Deus Ex: The Fall on iOS and Android, Tomb Raider 1 for iOS and Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light on iOS (including the HD Version), each for £0.99/$0.99/ €0.99.
Square Enix adds that its sale is set to be live until March 10, so you have a few days to pick up the titles – which will only cost you $2.97 for all three. This is a great deal, and each title comes highly recommended by AppAdvice.
Tomb Raider I, in particular, has been a real joy to play through on iOS. It launched back in December 2013 and includes MFi (Made for iPhone) game controller support, meaning iOS users can enjoy a more console-like experience using SteelSeries' Stratus or the less-impressive Logitech PowerShell.
All three games, though, are well worth their limited-time $0.99 price tags.
As mentioned, Deus Ex: The Fall, Tomb Raider I, and Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light (as well as Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light HD) can be downloaded on the App Store for $0.99 apiece. The deal is set to expire on Monday, March 10, so if you're interested be sure to pick up the titles before the weekend is over!
