Apple has recently added a brand new section to the App Store called “Best of April.”
As its name suggests, the new section (pictured above) showcases some of the best iOS app releases during the month of April. The selection, hand-picked by the App Store’s editorial team, includes “Best Game” and “Best App” awards along with a list of “Great Games” and “Amazing Apps.”
Apple explains at the new section: “Explore our favorite new apps and games – the month’s most memorable, skilfully crafted releases. Plus, enjoy superb offerings that received impressive updates.”
For April, the App Store editorial team chose Leo’s Fortune, the impressive platformer we reviewed a few days ago, as its best iPhone game; NYT Now was chosen as Apple’s best iPhone app for the month. On the tablet side, Blizzard’s Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft and Comedy Central won the awards for April’s best iPad app and game.
Some other iOS apps and app updates selected as promising releases include Hitman GO, Wayward Souls, Trials Frontier, Yahoo Finance, IFTTT, and Breeze.
The new section provides a great way for iOS device owners to gain a quick overview of the last month’s most promising releases, and to pick up any iOS apps which they might have missed. We’re not sure yet whether Apple is going to update the section each and every month, but we’re hoping this is indeed the case.
