AOL Updates AIM For iPhone With Long-Awaited iOS 7 Redesign And More
June 3, 2014
While Apple was busy introducing iOS 8 at its WWDC keynote, AOL released a long-awaited update to its AIM app for iOS 7.
Finally, over eight months after the launch of iOS 7, AOL's official AIM app for iPhone and iPod touch has been updated for Apple's current mobile operating system. As a result, the app has gotten rid of its outdated iOS 6-era trappings and now boasts a more modern design that looks and feels right at home on iOS 7.
The new version of AIM, designated as version 6.0, also includes improvements around connectivity detection and reconnect logic, stability and performance enhancements, and bug fixes.
Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch and compatible with iOS 6.0 or later, AIM 6.0 is available now in the App Store for free.
The app's $2.99 ad-free edition has also been updated to version 6.0 with the aforementioned changes.
AIM for iPad is yet to be updated and redesigned for iOS 7.
AIM is featured in AppAdvice's Instant Messaging Apps AppGuide.
