Cydia Tweak: Notific8 Ports The iOS 8 Notification Center Over To iOS 7

June 25, 2014

Notific8, a recently released jailbreak tweak, allows jailbreakers running iOS 7 on their iPhone to take the iOS 8 Notification Center for a spin ahead of schedule.

The new package is available for free on the Cydia Store, and it’s optimized for iOS 7 (and is even compatible with iOS 7.1.1-powered devices, which can be jailbroken using the new Pangu software).

Once installed, Notific8 indeed gives the iOS 7 Notification Center an iOS 8-inspired makeover. Plus, the developer, Stricktron (who used a concept from Cole Hunt), also makes a number of improvements, too. Here’s a complete list of features, as outlined by the folks at iClarified:

  • gets rid of the missed notifications tab
  • the title of the “All” tab is now “Notifications”
  • section headers have a background color
  • new edit button for quick access to notification center settings
  • new style attribution widget
  • option to hide the attribution text

More impressive, however, is that the developer is planning on releasing further updates to the package incorporating any changes made to the iOS 8 Notification Center in subsequent betas. Based on previous releases, it’s likely Apple will indeed make a wide-ranging series of tweaks to its iOS 8 ahead of the software’s public release in fall.

You can download Notific8 on the Cydia Store free of charge. It requires iOS 7.0 (or above) and is compatible with iOS 7.1.1.
