Here's What's New - And What's Missing - In The New Version Of Editorial
June 20, 2014
Editorial, which happens to be my writing weapon of choice, has received another update, just three weeks after its first major update.
While the new update brings some additional improvements, it also brings about an omission to the popular text-editing app developed by Ole Zorn.
After updating to the latest version of Editorial, you can no longer download or open Python files from Dropbox. This is in line with one of Apple's App Store guidelines, which prohibits the importing of executable code from external sources. This has also led to a similar change in Zorn's other app, Pythonista.
As for the additional improvements, one of them is a new setting that lets you specify additional file extensions to be downloaded from Dropbox automatically. You can find this setting through the Advanced option of the Dropbox section in Editorial's Settings. In the Additional Extensions field, just type the file extensions for the file types you want to add (e.g. jpg for images).
The latest update to Editorial also includes a couple of improvements to the app's TaskPaper mode. Now, you can easily mark tasks as done in Editorial for iPhone by dragging the right margin to the left. Also, there's a new setting to strike out @done tasks.
Moreover, the update adds the ability to reorder browser bookmarks in Editorial for iPhone, plus the following fixes:
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 7.0 or later, Editorial is available on the App Store for $6.99. Editorial was hailed as AppAdvice's App of the Week shortly after its release in August last year. It earned the same honor earlier this month following the release of its first major update, which brought universal support for iPhone and a new design for iOS 7. [gallery]
