Microsoft Updates Xbox One SmartGlass For iOS With Various Improvements

June 4, 2014
Today, Microsoft has issued a system update to Xbox One that includes support for external storage, the ability to use real names on Xbox Live, and improved SmartGlass integration. In line with this, the company has also released a major update to Xbox One SmartGlass, the official iOS companion app of the latest generation of its video game console. The latest update to Xbox One SmartGlass redesigns the Home section to make it "more engaging." It also lets you see all of your TV and app channels in the OneGuide and control your cable or satellite box and TV with a new universal remote control feature. Moreover, the new version of Xbox One SmartGlass lets you:
  • Compare achievements
  • Discover and play Twitch broadcasts
  • Reorder your pins
  • Filter saved game clips
  • Get more types of notifications and manage them in Settings
  • See new leaderboards on game and details pages
Also in the newly updated app, game clip views now count toward the total views. The update also brings bug fixes, stability improvements, and interface tweaks. Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 6.0 or later, Xbox One SmartGlass is available in the App Store for free. Released ahead of the console's launch last November, Xbox One SmartGlass received its first major update, thereby gaining several improvements, last March.
