Pebble Firmware Update Brings Menu Reordering And Music Volume Control

June 5, 2014
The popular Pebble smart watch has just received a firmware update that adds two major features: launcher menu reordering and music volume control. With the firmware version 2.2 installed on your Pebble, you can now reorder the watch's launcher menu any way you want. Just press and hold the select button while in the launcher until a menu item starts shaking, then move it up or down the list, like so: The firmware update also lets you, at long last, control the music volume, as demoed in the video below. Note, though, that this new feature also requires the latest version (also 2.2) of the Pebble Smartwatch iOS companion app, which was released last week. Version 2.2 of the Pebble firmware also fixes layout issues and adds a track progress bar to the Music app. Also in the new version, the alarm now vibrates for 10 minutes instead of just one minute (to better help sleepyheads wake up on time). Of course, there's the usual bug fixes and stability improvements as well. As for version 2.2 of the Pebble iOS companion app, it also enables more new JavaScript apps to be downloadable in the Pebble appstore and adds iBeacon support for proximity-sensing between Pebble and iOS device. To update your Pebble firmware, open the Pebble app on your iOS device while connected to your Pebble. The Pebble Smartwatch app is available in the App Store for free. It's optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 6.0 or later.
