Seminal Endless Runner Canabalt Finally Gets Optimized For iPhone 5

June 22, 2014

Canabalt, the seminal pixelated side-scrolling endless runner developed by Semi Secret Software, has just received a surprise update.

The game's surprise update delivers several improvements, the most notable of which is a certain kind of iOS device optimization.

Released in October 2009 for iPhone and iPod touch, Canabalt was updated with universal support for iPad in June 2010. In January 2011, it was updated with Retina display support for iPhone 4. And now, the month of June in the year 2014, the game has been updated with 4-inch widescreen full-resolution support for iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, and fifth-generation iPod touch. Better late than never, right?

In addition to widescreen support, the latest update to Canabalt includes improved Game Center and Twitter support, four different runners, a new music track, a new icon, and various bug fixes.

Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 5.0 or later, the new iOS 7-optimized version of Canabalt is available now on the App Store as a free update or as a new $2.99 download.

Since Canabalt's launch, Semi Secret Software has released a handful of iOS games, including Gravity Hook HD, Aquaria, and Hundreds.
