Imangi Studios, developer of the popular Temple Run game series, has just announced a big milestone. Temple Run and Temple Run 2 have been downloaded a combined 1 billion times worldwide across different platforms – including iOS.
"Having Temple Run reach the one billion downloads mark is a milestone we couldn't have imagined when we first started out," said Keith Shepherd, co-founder of Imangi Studios. "We're incredibly grateful to all the Temple Run players and our wonderful team. We look forward to continuing to grow the Temple Run franchise, as well as creating additional innovative games."And to mark the occasion, the studio has released a fun infographic. Click on it to enlarge. Gamers have played for a combined time of 216,018 years. Interestingly, 60 percent of the players are female and 36 percent come from China. Players have “run” a total of 50 trillion total meters and died more than 32 billion times. The top three ways to die are falling, a collision, and those crazy monkeys. Temple Run and Temple Run 2 can be downloaded now on the App Store for free. Each game is universal and designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini. Those download numbers don't include the Disney movie tie-in apps Temple Run: Brave and Temple Run: Oz. Both apps are definitely classic and have helped to define the endless runner genre. It's always great to see a developer become so successful.
