Adult Swim releases Free to Slay edition of Castle Doombad
July 17, 2014
A freemium edition of Castle Doombad has just been released on the App Store. And it's aptly called Castle Doombad: Free to Slay.
Published by Adult Swim and developed by Grumpyface (the same studios behind Super Mole Escape), Castle Doombad is a game that has you, as Dr. Evilstein, "defending" the princess you've abducted from her heroic rescuers.
Castle Doombad: Free to Slay offers the same reverse tower defense game with the "furiously fiendish" features and additional Slaycation chapter as the original premium edition. But as noted by Adult Swim and Grumpyface, it comes with the following minor changes to the game's in-app purchase structure:
Castle Doombad: Free to Slay also includes interstitial ads, which can be removed via in-app purchase for $2.99, which is the same download price as the premium Castle Doombad. Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, Castle Doombad: Free to Slay is available now on the App Store for free. For more information on the game, check out our original review of the premium edition, which concludes, "If you’re a fan of (reverse) tower defense games, then this is a must-have for your iOS device."
- The lowest-price Doom Shekel pack is $4.99 (vs. 1.99 in the premium app). The amounts in the packs are the same.
- There is no Coin Doubler purchase in this version.
- An "Unlock All Traps" purchase has been added that unlocks every trap in the game (not present in the premium app).
- You can choose to watch video ads for free Doom Shekels in this version.
