Microsoft is hoping to bring you closer to celebrity news with its brand new app for iOS. The tech giant's latest iOS app is called Snipp3t (pronounced "Snippet"). It's so named because, as touted by Microsoft, it's a news app that "snips everything you want to know about your favorite celebrities from all over the web and puts it in one place." I like to think of it as a sort of opposite of Facebook Mentions, as it's designed to be used by fans looking for the latest news from celebrities, rather than by celebrities delivering the latest news to fans. Featuring Microsoft's established look and feel on mobile, Snipp3t allows you to subscribe to your favorite celebrities and get the freshest stories about them right in the app's home screen, which serves as your personalized stream. Snipp3t provides a Subscriptions page, where you can manage the celebrities you follow, discover popular celebrities, and search for specific celebrities. "Tap on a celebrity to view their detailed profiles and explore a timeline of news stories surrounding them," Microsoft explains. "You can also tap into a news story to get all relevant story content (news articles, photos, videos, and social mentions) in one place." Of course, as in real life, you can share interesting celebrity news and gossip in Snipp3t with your friends and other fans. Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 7.0 or later, Snipp3t is available now on the App Store for free. If you're mad about the celebrity scene, Snipp3t is definitely worth a look.
