FXNOW channel arrives for the Apple TV

September 23, 2014

First rumored this summer, the FXNOW channel has officially arrived for Apple TV users in the United States.

Much like the universal FXNOW app for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini, the channel features on demand content from FX, FXX, and FXM. Along with popular TV series like “The Bridge” and “Sons of Anarchy,” users can watch a number of movies on-demand.

Like many other similar apps and Apple TV channels, you’ll first need to prove that you’re a cable subscriber to receive access to the content. Supported cable providers currently include AT&T, Brighthouse Networks, Comcast, Cox, Midcontinent Communications, Optimum, Suddenlink, Time Warner Cable, and WOW!

Currently not found on the Apple TV channel is the upcoming Simpsons World, which will offer all 522 episodes of “The Simpsons” and other extra content. It’s currently slated to arrive sometime next month as an update to the app, and it should also appear on the channel then.

An update for the third-generation Apple TV arrived last week alongside iOS 8. Along with a UI redesign, users can now take advantage of a number of iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite features like Family Sharing and iCloud Photos. Another new feature included an integrated Beats Music channel.
