Cydia gets an update and is now bundled with Pangu for iOS 8

October 31, 2014

If you’ve jailbroken your iPhone or iPad in the past in order to install a range of impressive (albeit unauthorized) apps and tweaks on your iOS device, we have good news.

The Pangu jailbreak for iOS 8 we mentioned recently now ships with the Cydia Installer bundled in, plus the Cydia Installer itself has also received a useful update making some interesting and, for some, disappointing changes.

First, Cydia Installer is indeed now bundled with Pangu for iOS 8, meaning you’ll no longer need to manually install the Cydia app when jailbreaking using the Pangu method. English support is also incoming, too, according to the folks behind the jailbreak solution, meaning we’ll see a more fully-fledged version of Pangu appear for iOS 8 users in the near future.

Second, however, the Cydia Installer has indeed received an update to 1.1.15. This removes lanscape mode in the Cydia app for all devices save for the iPhone 6 Plus, iPad, and iPad mini. While all iOS devices had received access to landscape mode prior to Cydia Installer’s 1.1.15 release, Jay Freeman (@saurik) has since confirmed that this was a bug.

Besides this, Cydia Installer’s 1.1.15 update has brought a selection of additional bug fixes, too. We’ll keep you updated with further information from the jailbreak scene as we receive it.
