Launched in 2010, Flipboard was updated to version 2.0 in March last year, thereby enabling users to create their own magazines for a more personalized experience.
Now, Flipboard has been updated to version 3.0 with new features and enhancements for an even more personal and magazine-like “flipping” experience.
“We’re on a quest to create the world’s best personal magazine, and today’s update — the third generation of Flipboard — builds on our core tenets,” the Flipboard team says.
On its iPad edition, Flipboard 3.0 offers tens of thousands of topics to follow — powered by the technology behind Zite, which was acquired by Flipboard last March, and by Flipboard’s magazine makers. Topics may be explored through search or by tapping on tags accompanying articles.
Flipboard 3.0 for iPad also introduces a new morning news magazine called The Daily Edition. Featuring top headlines picked by the Flipboard team, The Daily Edition is initially available in the app’s editions for the U.S., the U.K., Latin America, U.S. Latino, Brazil, and India, and is delivered every day by 7 a.m. local time.

The new generation of Flipboard also brings a design refresh for iPhone as well as iPad. In particular, Flipboard 3.0 for iPhone sees the introduction of a new tab navigation bar and more accessible buttons for sharing, liking, or flipping stories.
