Microsoft's Skype app now optimized for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus
Skype for iPhone, the official iPhone app of Microsoft’s Skype VoIP and IM service, has just been updated with support for the larger screens of the new iPhones.
Last month, the app was updated with support for iOS 8 (particularly the operating system’s interactive notifications) but not with support for the higher-resolution displays of the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus.
Well, Microsoft has rectified that apparent oversight with the latest update to Skype for iPhone, which optimizes the app’s interface for the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus.
In addition, the update brings the following improvements:
- Presence indicators are now displayed in the “recent” list
- Number of contacts and time zones are now shown on contact profiles
- Individual conversations can be marked as read/unread
- Notification sounds are disabled in “Do not disturb” mode
- General Improvements
Skype for iPhone was also updated last month with support for group audio calling.
The app’s new update comes nearly a week after the release of Skype for Mac 7.0 and just a day after the launch of the Snapchat-like Skype Qik.
