Withings updates its Health Mate app with Health and Touch ID integration on iOS 8
Whereas Fitbit has announced that it currently has no plans to integrate with Apple’s health-focused software platform, Withings has released an update that makes its Health Mate app compatible with HealthKit and the Health app on iOS 8.
As a result, you can now sync your health and fitness data in Health Mate with Health right from the activity-tracking app’s Profile screen.
Speaking of the Profile screen, the latest update to Health Mate also brings enhancements on that front. As noted by Withings:
On your Health Mate profile, you will also discover a whole new design! The result? Easier connections with our partners, and your Withings statistics: total distance, total number of steps, times you reached 10,000 steps in a day, your minimum weight… To put it simply: this is your scoreboard!
And if you wish to protect your data, you can now do just that with Touch ID on your iOS 8-powered iPhone. Just enable Touch ID protection to keep your Health Mate data secure and accessible only with your fingerprint.

The new version of Health Mate also offers bug fixes and improvements to the step counter on iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and iPhone 5c.
The new Health-integrated version of Health Mate is available now on the App Store for free. It’s optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 7.0 or later.
Health Mate was featured by Apple at its WWDC 2014 keynote and in its “Strength” TV ad for the iPhone 5s earlier this year.
According to Withings, Health Mate is set to be optimized for the larger screens of the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus through an upcoming update.
The app was previously updated last July with an integrated heart rate sensor feature.
