“Every year, over 30 million job seekers and students around the world are forced to take a test to prove that they know English or other languages in order to apply for a job or school,” Duolingo notes. “Offline tests can require paying an entire month’s salary, traveling to a distant examination facility, and then waiting weeks in limbo for the results.”
Duolingo's new app, called Duolingo Test Center, lets you certify your language skills in the comfort of your home, using your iOS device, and at a significant low price.
Duolingo's scientifically proven and human-verified proficiency test normally costs $20, which is just about a tenth of the usual cost of a comparable test, e.g. the TOEFL or the IELTS. But it's currently being offered by Duolingo for free.

According to its eponymous company, Duolingo Test Center features safe government-issued ID verification, unique test generation, and remote proctoring, which employs a human proctor to verify each test taker's identity and genuine participation by monitoring the device camera and microphone.
