Fantastical 2 for iPhone updated with a new feature to the Notification Center widget

December 5, 2014

One of the best third-party alternatives to Apple’s stock iPhone Calendar app, Fantastical 2, has just received a nice update.

Version 2.2.2 brings a welcomed addition to the powerful Notification Center widget. With the update, users can now change the date in the widget when only the events and reminders option is enabled.

The other addition to the app should make it easier for users to search for specific events. With support for partial fragments, you can search for “bday” and will be greeted with any event that has “birthday” in the title.

Along with better handling of latitude and longitude coordinates for event locations, the update also fixed an issue when snoozing Exchange alerts.

Designed for the iPhone/iPod touch, Fantastical 2 can be downloaded now on the App Store for $4.99. A separate version for the iPad/iPad mini is $9.99. It has yet to be updated to version 2.2.2.

You’ll need to have iOS 8.0 or later installed to use either app.

Before today’s update, the last major version for the iPhone edition arrived in late October. Along with the handy Notification Center widget, version 2.2 brought an iOS 8 app extension and interactive notifications that allow users to snooze an alert or complete a reminder.
