Acclaimed 'simultaneous turn-based' tactical game Frozen Synapse comes to iPhone
Frozen Synapse, the acclaimed “simultaneous turn-based” tactical game originally released by Mode 7 on desktop in May 2011, has been available on iPad since May 2013. But it’s only now that it’s been made available on iPhone.
Well, better late than never, especially when the long wait has resulted in an interface optimized for the smaller iOS device screen, in both portrait and landscape modes, and support for cross-platform play, as demoed with a cat(!) in the video below.
Like its iPad edition, Frozen Synapse for iPhone features a multi-mission single-player campaign, a handful of multiplayer modes, and a built-in skirmish generator.
Note, though, that it comes not as a universal update to the iPad edition but as a separately sold game for iPhone.
Nevertheless, if you’ve played Frozen Synapse on other platforms, you can use your existing Frozen Synapse account on the new iPhone edition, whereupon your previously purchased Red expansion is automatically carried over.

In celebration of the release of its iPhone counterpart, Frozen Synapse for iPad is currently on sale on the App Store for only $2.99, instead of its regular price of $9.99.
Frozen Synapse is touted as a “simultaneous turn-based” tactical game since in the game, players are free to plan and test their moves at their leisure and turns are executed simultaneously.
